Sostibaix, the sustainable fortnight of Baix Llobregat

The Baix Llobregat Tourism Consortium presents the first edition of Sostibaix, the sustainable fortnight of Baix Llobregat, an event that promotes local, responsible and environmentally conscious tourism.

Sostibaix, which takes place from 14 to 27 October, offers a range of activities aimed at raising public awareness about the need to protect our environment and highlighting the region's natural and cultural heritage.

During these two weeks, local companies and entities organize a wide range of activities for all audiences. Some of the proposals include mornings at the farm to discover organic farming, the construction of insect hotels to promote biodiversity, bicycle rides through the Llobregat delta and other natural spaces, bird ringing and discovery of the fauna of the Llobregat river, nature workshops in the parks and gardens, to learn to respect and care for the environment, and guided tours of the El Prat wastewater treatment plant to know how water is treated and its importance.

In addition to environmental activities, the fifteenth sustainable Sostibaix includes cultural proposals such as a visit to the Crypt of Colonia Güell, to learn about Antoni Gaudí 's sustainable construction techniques, and public transport routes to discover the heritage of Baix Llobregat in a sustainable way, such as the Section Route or the Explorers Route with Renfe.

For lovers of wine tourism and local gastronomy, the Sostibaix programme includes visits and tastings to locally produced wineries and the gastronomic offering of the restaurants of the " Els Sabors de l'Horta " collective, which are committed to responsible gastronomy with dishes made with local and seasonal products grown in the Baix Llobregat Agricultural Park.

Sostibaix also puts emphasis on the social aspect of tourism, with knowledge days for Baix Llobregat entities such as the Portolà Foundation or the Rubricatus Foundation, which ensure the social and work integration of people with intellectual disabilities, mental disorders, or groups at risk. of social exclusion.

This event is included in the sustainable strategy of the Baix Llobregat Tourism Consortium, an entity recognized with the Biosphere Sustainable Commitment certification, in which companies, entities and town councils actively participate, committed to responsible tourism development.
