Aplec de la Salut in Collbató
Coinciding with Easter Monday, Collbató will once again celebrate the Aplec de la Salut, one of the most emblematic gatherings in the municipality and a meeting point for residents.
The celebration will take place on Monday, April 6th, and will follow last year's program, which was revived after the last edition in 2019. The day will begin at 11 a.m. with a mass at the Hermitage of La Salut, followed by a sardana dance with the Cobla Ciutat de Terrassa.
One of the highlights will be the rice cooking competition, open to adults, with individual or team participation. To register, you must complete the online form before April 1st.
Participants will cook their rice dishes in the morning at the La Salut Recreation Area, in front of the jury, who will evaluate the dishes starting at 1:30 p.m., taking into account presentation, preparation, flavor, rice texture, and originality. Each participant must provide the necessary ingredients and equipment (paella pan, stove, gas, etc.), as well as be responsible for setting up and cleaning up their area. Once the competition is over, the dishes can be tasted in the same area.
The City Council invites all citizens to participate in the competition or to bring their own food and enjoy the day at Espai de la Salut in a festive and shared atmosphere.
A tradition with historical roots
The Aplec de la Salut was traditionally celebrated on Easter Monday, with the participation of residents from Collbató and neighboring towns. In the past, the events began with a procession from the church of Sant Corneli to the sanctuary of La Salut, where a mass was celebrated in honor of the Virgin. This gathering was part of the traditional outings to the countryside to welcome the arrival of warmer weather, fulfill vows, and give thanks for favors received through votive offerings.
The first document referencing this celebration dates back to 1855, when an annual mass at the sanctuary was already mentioned. Over time, the Aplec became a prominent event, attracting people from all over, including Olesa, Esparreguera, El Bruc, Monistrol, Martorell, and Manresa. In 2024, the City Council spearheaded its revival, thus bringing back a much-loved tradition.
Don't miss it!
