Sant Marc Day in Gironella

The celebration of Sant Marc's Day in Gironella comes with a weekend full of activities that combine tradition, popular culture and festivities, keeping the community spirit of the municipality alive.

The festivities begin on Saturday with a community hot chocolate gathering, a chance to get everyone together and start the day in a friendly atmosphere. This is followed by a parade connecting the Church of Santa Maria with the Hermitage of Sant Marc, marking the start of the more traditional events. At the hermitage, the main mass and the town's vow are celebrated, followed by a communal lunch and deeply rooted traditions such as the Lion Dance and a sardana dance performance with the Cobla Berga Jove band.

In the afternoon, the festivities move to Cal Bassacs Square with a dance performance, followed by a communal dinner and an evening filled with music. The nighttime program includes musical performances and DJ sets, with offerings ranging from cover bands to music for dancing until the early hours, creating a festive and participatory atmosphere.

Sunday remains the focus of popular culture with a gathering of festive figures, where giants, big-headed figures, and other characters fill the streets with color and tradition.
