Carnival in Sant Vicenç dels Horts
Sant Vicenç dels Horts is getting ready for a week of Carnival full of celebration, tradition and revelry!
From February 12th to 18th, Sant Vicenç dels Horts will host a week-long celebration packed with activities for all ages. It's a chance to take to the streets, dress up without limits, and embrace the wildest and most festive spirit of the year.
The festivities will begin on Thursday, February 12th, Fat Thursday, in the Plaça de la Vila. Starting at 5:00 PM, the Carnival Tribe will be presented, and the symbolic transfer of power from the mayor to the Tribe will take place, officially kicking off Carnival. Following this, the youngest members of the community will take center stage with the children's costume ball, and the day will conclude with the popular and traditional egg sausage feast and the always eagerly awaited shower of sweets.
On Friday, February 13th, the party will continue at the Societat La Vicentina with a big Carnival party starting at 11 pm, enlivened by DJ Abad, perfect for extending the night with music and dancing.
On Saturday, February 14, the celebration will move to Sant Jordi Square, where the parade with the drummers will begin at 11:45 a.m., followed by the children's proclamation at 12:00 p.m. At the end of the show, the Carnival Medal will be awarded, a special moment within the festival.
The main event will take place on Sunday, February 15th, with Carnival in the Plaça de la Vila. At 11:11 a.m., the Carnival Tribe will make its proclamation and a special version of the Sant Vicenç dels Horts anthem will be presented. At 11:30 a.m., the Carnival Parade will fill the streets with color and music, and when it returns to the square, the party will continue with the Disguised Dance and a final burst of revelry to bid farewell to Carnival in style.
On Wednesday, February 18th, Ash Wednesday, Carnival will conclude with a more symbolic but equally participatory event in Narcís Lunes Square. From 4:30 to 7:00 pm, children can enjoy a workshop where they can paint their own sardine. At 5:30 pm, the Carnival Tribe parade will wind its way through the square, followed by the Tribe's farewell, before the festivities officially end with the popular and traditional sardine feast.
A week to share, laugh, and experience Carnival to the fullest. Sant Vicenç dels Horts is almost here… are you?
