European Heritage Days in Santpedor

Santpedor joins the European Heritage Days with an event that invites visitors to travel back in time through documents, writing, and the flavors of the Middle Ages. The activity will take place on Saturday, October 10, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., starting at the Town Hall in the Plaça Gran U d'Octubre.

The day will begin with a historical tour of the archives, led by historian Mireia Vila Cortina. The tour will offer a close look at the documents that safeguard part of the municipality's history and allow participants to discover some of the privileges and documentary treasures preserved over the centuries. It's an opportunity to understand the importance of archives as essential sources for reconstructing local history.

The program will continue with a workshop on medieval writing, or Scriptorium, led by Laura de Castellet y de Ramon, PhD in Medieval History. Participants will learn how writing was done in medieval times, discover the materials and techniques used, and experiment with a form of writing very different from today's.

To complete the experience, a tasting of piment wine, a medieval beverage made with spiced wine, will be offered. The tasting costs €3, payable in cash on the day. Lemonade will also be available.

An activity that combines history, documentary heritage and experimentation, ideal for discovering Santpedor from a different perspective and getting closer to some of the customs and knowledge of the Middle Ages.
