CULTURAL HERITAGE AND PARTICIPATING COUNTRIES
Europe's cultural heritage is a rich and diversified mosaic of cultural and creative expressions that we have inherited from previous generations and that we will transmit to future ones. It includes natural, built and archaeological places, museums, monuments, works of art, historic cities, literary, musical and audiovisual works, as well as the knowledge, practices and traditions of European citizens.
European Heritage Days are held in the fifty signatory States of the European Cultural Convention every Autumn and are organized in close collaboration with national coordinators.
In each country there is a network of regional and local administrations, civic and private groups, as well as thousands of volunteers, in charge of organizing the events.
Each year is dedicated to a special common pan-European theme. Countries can join the common annual theme or organize activities around a local adaptation of the theme or on a topic of their choice.
