Berga Mushroom Festival
IMPORTANT! Due to the rain forecast and the orange weather warning in Berguedà for Sunday, 4 October, the events of the 68th Mushroom-Picking Competition at Pla de Puigventós (Castellar del Riu) have been POSTPONED. The mushroom-picking gathering will take place on Sunday, 25 October.
Berga and Castellar del Riu celebrate a new edition of the Mushroom Festival, one of the most deeply rooted autumn events in Berguedà and a meeting point for people who are fond of mycology, families and visitors who want to enjoy the tradition of mushroom hunting and the landscape of the region.
Pla de Puigventós, in Espinalbet, will once again host the traditional Mushroom Hunting Competition, with categories dedicated to saffron milk caps, black-lipped mushrooms, and the heaviest saffron milk cap. The day will begin early in the morning and will maintain the spirit of a celebration that values both the skill of mushroom hunters and respect for the forests and the proper harvesting of specimens.
The youngest participants will also take center stage with the Children's Mushroom Picking Contest and the Children's Drawing Contest, two initiatives that help to pass on a passion for mushrooms and knowledge of nature to new generations.
Throughout the morning there will also be a popular breakfast and a fair of artisanal and agri-food products linked to the world of mushroom hunting, turning Puigventós into a space where gastronomy, tradition and local produce will share the spotlight.
The festivities will continue in Berga with music, sardanas and popular culture, culminating in one of the most emblematic moments of the day: the burning of the mushroom bonfire, preceded by a pyrotechnic display.
An ideal day to experience autumn in Berguedà, go out into the forest with respect and enjoy a tradition that has kept alive Berga's link with the world of mushrooms for decades.
We're waiting for you!
