The Pedraforca

Both for its geological characteristics and the richness of its natural systems, the Pedraforca Massif is one of the most valuable protected areas of Catalonia's natural heritage. Law 6/1982, of May 6, declared Pedraforca a Natural Site of National Interest. In 1983, the legal protection of the area's surroundings was completed with the declaration of the Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park. The Site has an area of 1,671 hectares, of which 1,352 belong to the municipality of Saldes and 319 to that of Gósol.

It is formed by a large limestone mass, with a central marl section, offering the characteristic silhouette of the two large points or pollegons, separated by the deep Enforcadura, cut by erosion.

Despite the Pedraforca 's height of 2,507 metres, its climate is similar to that of other higher mountains.

Activities and proposals

From Hostal Cal Francisco, you can enjoy numerous activities designed for all ages. In addition to the classic hiking trails and excursions to Pedraforca, the Gósol area offers opportunities to discover local art and culture.

The town hosted Pablo Picasso for a summer in 1906, and today you can visit the Gósol Picasso Center, dedicated to the painter's legacy in the area. Festivals, craft fairs, and local culinary offerings also take place throughout the year, bringing life and authenticity to your stay.
