Cal Parraquer: accessible rural tourism at the foot of Pedraforca

There are houses that invite you to relax, and then there are those that make you feel like you belong from the very first moment; Cal Parraquer is one of these houses. Located in Feners, a small hamlet in the municipality of Saldes, in the heart of the Berguedà region, this rural farmhouse combines the charm of mountain life with the comforts you seek in a modern getaway. At the foot of Pedraforca and surrounded by fields, forests, and tranquility, it's an accommodation designed for sharing days of peace, nature, and authenticity with family, friends, and even pets.

Built in 1871 and carefully restored, Cal Parraquer retains the essence of traditional farmhouses while incorporating comfortable, functional spaces adapted to modern needs. Above all, it is a house open to everyone, a place where accessibility is an integral part of the design and where every detail aims to facilitate a pleasant, safe, and barrier-free stay.

A house with history and all the comforts

Cal Parraquer sleeps 7 and is spread over two levels, with three en-suite bedrooms. On the first floor are two double bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and television. In the former covered patio, rebuilt to improve the house's functionality, we find the largest bedroom, a double room that can be converted into a triple with an extra bed, with an adapted bathroom, television, and desk.

The ground floor is the heart of the house. It opens up into a single, open-plan space encompassing the kitchen, dining area, and living room —ideal for relaxing together after a day's hike or simply enjoying leisure time. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to cook and set the table, just like at home, and the living room, with its sofa, television, and fireplace, becomes a cozy retreat when the temperature drops. From the kitchen, you have direct access to the outdoor porch and barbecue area, a perfect spot for lingering over meals and letting the scenery do the rest.

Real accessibility, so that Berguedà is for everyone

One of Cal Parraquer's greatest strengths is its commitment to accessibility. The ground floor, the adjoining shed, and the exterior areas are designed to allow people with reduced mobility to move around comfortably. You can drive almost right up to the entrance, and a paved sidewalk provides easy access to the main door without steps or uneven surfaces.

Inside, the kitchen-dining room and living room are open-plan and unobstructed. The accessible bedroom, located on the same level, has direct access from the dining room and a bathroom equipped with a walk-in shower, a mobile shower chair, fold-down grab bars on the toilet, and a wall-hung toilet. The porch and barbecue area are also walk-in, accessible from both the outside and the kitchen.

An environment of nature, silence and landscape

The surroundings are an essential part of the experience. Feners is a quiet village with few neighbors and an atmosphere that invites you to slow down; here, the soundtrack is provided by the cowbells, birdsong, and the water of the Rúixol stream. Behind the house, pastures stretch out, and in front, a pine forest frames the landscape.

From Cal Parraquer, you can enjoy a privileged view of the mountains surrounding the valley. The side silhouette of Pedraforca appears from an unusual perspective, while Cabo de la Gallina Pelada, a prominent peak in the Sierra de Ensija, rises on the horizon. Whether you come to walk, observe, read by the window, or simply breathe fresh air, here nature isn't just a backdrop; it's the star.

Activities to experience the Pedraforca Valleys

Cal Parraquer is also an excellent starting point for exploring the Pedraforca Valleys. Just 800 meters away is Feners, documented since the 13th century, whose structure still bears its medieval imprint. Saldes, about a 10-minute drive, offers the opportunity to stroll under the imposing gaze of Pedraforca and visit the Church of Sant Martí or the Pedraforca Massif and Mining Interpretation Center. It's also worth visiting Gósol, the village where Picasso found inspiration in 1906, or Maçaners, a natural viewpoint overlooking Berguedà's most emblematic mountain.

Hiking enthusiasts will find routes for all levels: from a leisurely stroll through the surrounding countryside to more challenging itineraries such as the ascent of Pedraforca, the Pedraforca 360º, the Picasso Trail, or the Camino de los Buenos Hombres (Path of the Good Men ). For cyclists, the area offers mountain roads, gravel and mountain bike routes, forest tracks, and challenges like the Coll de Pradell pass.

And if you're looking for different experiences, the area also offers horse riding excursions, adventure circuits in the Palomera Forest, discovering fields of tulips and dahlias in season, or stargazing in a dark and clear sky, with the possibility of participating in guided sessions at the nearby astronomical center.

A getaway to truly disconnect

Cal Parraquer is much more than a rural guesthouse in Saldes; it's a place where history, nature, and accessibility come together to offer a peaceful and unhurried stay. A refuge at the foot of Pedraforca, it's the perfect place to reconnect with the landscape, share simple moments, and discover the Berguedà region with all your senses. If you're looking for an authentic, comfortable rural getaway designed for everyone, Cal Parraquer awaits you.
