21 June
Castellar de n'Hug
This event is over.

The international smugglers' march has been held since 1991, between Castellar de n'Hug (Berguedà - Catalonia) and Osseja (Alta Cerdanya - Catalonia North), alternately.

The motivation behind this march is to commemorate an activity that helped the local population survive. This practice was quite common in the Pyrenees, especially among border communities, during difficult times when smuggling became almost a way of life in a harsh environment like the mountains. The march is not only a sporting event, but also a way to recognize and value the history and traditions of this region.

One of the most prominent figures in this story is Jacques Obradors, a former smuggler who was the creator and driving force behind the March until 2011. Obradors made the march his contribution to keeping alive the collective memory of an era that, despite being difficult, forged the identity of this region. His dedication has been fundamental to preserving this tradition and passing it on to new generations.

The Smugglers' March is not only an opportunity to enjoy nature and the beauty of the Pyrenean landscape, but it is also an invitation to reflect on the history and experiences of those who lived in a context of hardship.

Are you up for it? Participating in this march is a way to connect with the past and live a unique experience in a spectacular natural environment.
