Exhibition "Música de tot cor. Joan Tomàs i Parés" in Queralbs

This summer, Queralbs will dedicate a cultural program to the town's musical memory and to the figure of Joan Tomàs i Parés, musician, folklorist and collector of popular Catalan songs.
The events will begin on Wednesday, July 22nd, on the porch of the Queralbs church, with a participatory workshop on traditional songs. The gathering aims to revive melodies linked to the oral history of the town and share them with the public in an engaging and experiential format. Francesc Coll, known as Cisquet de la Farga, will participate, teaching songs he learned from his grandmother, Coloma Tenes. Singers Gemma Pla and Mireia Mena, from the group De Calaix, will also take part, reinterpreting some of these pieces collected in 1935.
The following day, Thursday, July 23, Casa de Núria will host the lecture "The Popular Songbook in Queralbs," given by Liliana Tomàs, Joan Tomàs's assistant. The talk will explore the research that the maestro carried out in the Ribes Valley and in Queralbs, where he collected tunes, songs, and testimonies that today form part of a valuable musical heritage.
The exhibition "Música de tot cor. Joan Tomàs i Parés" will then be inaugurated in Queralbs, which can be visited in the Sala Puigmal de Queralbs until December 31, 2026. The exhibition will include the section "Joan Tomàs in Queralbs" and "Cantaires and songs of Queralbs 1635-20 viva del pueblo.
