Sweeping for home at the DHub - Barcelona Design Museum
Discover the plant fibers to make a traditional broom!
Before vacuum cleaners existed, every home had a little everyday hero: the hand broom made of plant fibers. It was good for everything (from shaking off crumbs to sweeping leaves) and was always ready to lend a hand. What unexpected use would you give it?
We invite you to a family activity that begins with a stroll through the Matter Matters exhibition. Designing with the world. We will discover objects made with plant fibers and learn how materials from our surroundings can be transformed into tools that are both useful and beautiful.
Then, let's get started! In the workshop, the DHub education team will guide us in making our own hand brush with an activity designed by artist and researcher Ona Trepat. We'll see that, with a few well-tied knots and some ingenuity, we can create a surprising and fully functional object.
An activity to learn, create, and play with natural materials. And, above all, to leave with a toilet brush you made yourself that's sure to make you smile every time you use it!
