Sea of Fils in Canet de Mar

In 1859, Canet had some shipyards where ships and frigates were built. When the railway arrived, they disappeared. In the 18th and 19th centuries, the textile facet of pillow tops already existed and they were taken to the American colonies, thanks to the routes of the "canetenses" navigators. Then he went into the sailing industry. The industrial fabric was born in Catalonia from the hand of steam and the textile industries were the first to join decisively in an emerging industrialization.

Canet de Mar is one of the first towns that offered the services of this industry. The Knitting School founded in 1922 by the Commonwealth of Catalonia to train technicians in this discipline.

On these pillars is born Mar de Fils. To vindicate our industrial legacy, enhance its public visibility and productivity, and to do so establish links with the new potentially creative generations.
