The architect's bond with the town was close from his childhood. As a child he spent the summer with the family, and it was in Canet where he met Maria Roura, who would eventually be his wife.

The concentration of modernist houses and elements in Canet is so great that one cannot stop looking here and there, seduced by the beauty that lies before them.

In the early 19th century, many Canetenses emigrated to the Spanish colonies of Cuba, Puerto Rico, and Uruguay. They did it to progress economically and thus improve their lifestyle. There were those who succeeded and then returned to the village with part of their fortunes. Here they were known as the Americans. They were rich men and they did not hide, on the contrary, they showed off their power and influence; an excellent form of boasting was heritage.
