Qgat Negre Cycle
Qgat Negre is a series of events dedicated to the crime fiction genre, held in various venues in Sant Cugat, with a particular focus on the Ateneo Santcugatenc and the El Siglo de Mercantic theater. This initiative began in September 2023 thanks to the Qgat Negre collective, which brings together organizations and venues interested in promoting the crime fiction genre. Among the organizers of this series are the Ateneo Santcugatenc, El Siglo de Mercantic, Lee o Muere (Read or Die), Red Social Valldoreix (Valldoreix Social Network), Diodati se mueve (Diodati Moves), Versátil, and the Manuel Vázquez Montalbán Memorial, with the support of local media outlets such as TOT Sant Cugat, TV Sant Cugat, Cugat Mèdia, and El Cugat.
This quarter, a series of free activities open to the public have been organized to introduce the crime fiction genre to the residents of Sant Cugat. The scheduled activities include book presentations, concerts, and lectures. Below are some of the dates and authors participating in the series:
- January 29: Eduardo Oller, The Worker of Basketville - El Siglo de Mercantic
- February 12: José Luis Muñoz, The 39. The Fort Christmas — Santcugatenc Athenaeum
- February 26: Dominique Salomón and José Luis Muñoz, The Two Holocausts - El Siglo de Mercantic
- March 12: Anna Casamitjana Costa, Flowers for a corpse — Ateneu Santcugatenc
- March 26: Dolores Fernández Guerrero, Crystal Rain — El Siglo de Mercantic
