Brain Film Fest in Barcelona
From March 11 to 15, 2026, the Centre for Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (CCCB) will host a new edition of the Brain Film Fest. This film festival, promoted by the Pasqual Maragall Foundation and co-organized by Minimal Film, is dedicated to exploring the relationship between the brain and the environment we inhabit, under the motto "Inhabiting the Mind."
The Brain Film Fest invites reflection on how our surroundings can influence our mental health and brain function. Through its program, the festival addresses issues such as:
- To what extent does the environment we inhabit shape us?
- How can we improve the relationship between our brain/consciousness and the environment?
- What are the main technological, social, and environmental changes that impact our mental health?
The festival not only presents a selection of films exploring the future of mental health and the brain, but also includes diverse activities such as panel discussions, lectures, and workshops for both adults and children. The aim is to create an open and inclusive space for everyone, regardless of individual needs.
Awards and recognitions
In this edition, filmmaker Carla Simón, internationally recognized for her trilogy on mental health, will receive the Brain Film Fest Special Award during the festival's opening, which will take place on March 11.
In addition, the festival will feature renowned filmmakers such as Claudia Pinto, Marta Romero, and Álvaro Longoria, who will present their work at the event. The opening film will be Long Live My Happy Head, screening on March 13.
