Visit the interior of the Llorts iron mine in Ordino

From 01/07/2024 to 11/09/2024
Ordino

The guided tour of the Llorts iron mine allows you to discover the work of the steel industry from the beginning of the 17th century to the end of the 19th century, when it was one of the most important economic activities in the Principality of Andorra. This mine, along with others, fed the forges of Ordino, although it was only open for four years due to the small amount of iron that was found and it was not profitable.

Remember that after the guided tour of the mine you can walk the entire route of the Iron Route visiting the different contemporary sculptures that you will find outdoors that refer to work and life at that time and sector. You can walk the path to the Farga Rossell.

The Andorra Iron Route is one of the best family excursions that can be done in the Principality because it is easy to do and combines nature with culture . The Iron Route is part of the cross-border iron itinerary in the Pyrenees, awarded by the Council of Europe and invites you to discover the resources linked to the process of obtaining, transforming and marketing iron that were developed in Andorra from the beginning of the 17th century to late nineteenth century. In this sense, we suggest visiting the interior of the Llorts iron mine, taking the muleteers' path to see the outdoor sculptures and visiting the Farga Rossell.

Do not miss it!
