Saint George in Sant Celoni

April 23rd, the feast day of Sant Jordi, has great symbolism for Catalan culture.

In Sant Celoni, like many Catalan towns, they celebrate the festival by filling the Plaça de la Vila with a wide variety of stalls selling books and roses, and decorating their balconies with the Catalan flag. At 6 p.m., as every year, they dance sardanas in the Plaça de la Vila, this year to the song "Mil·lenari."

On this date it is traditional to remember a legend specific to the town: The legend of Soler de Vilardell, a mythical character who, thanks to a sword of virtue, saved the town of Sant Celoni from a ferocious dragon that threatened it.
