Grup de Teatre Till-Tall - La Passió de Llinars del Vallès
The Passion of Llinars del Vallès
The Passion Play of Llinars del Vallès, titled Veniu a mi (Come to Me), is a creation of the Till-Tall theater group, founded in 1987 with a commitment to cultural activism. Premiered in 2000, it is an austere theatrical production that almost entirely forgoes sets and visual effects to focus on the power of the text and the performance. With straightforward language and contemporary dramaturgy that directly engages the audience, the play unfolds as a continuous performance, making action and words feel alive and intimate.
This starkness of the stage is one of its greatest strengths and a defining characteristic. Without artifice, the audience is confronted with the bareness of the stage and the emotional intensity of the performers, supported by understated lighting and an original soundtrack by composer David Gómez Comino, which underscores the key moments. All of this fosters an intimate and direct experience, in which the message comes across with clarity and power.
One of its distinctive features is femininity, present both in the gaze and the presence of the female characters, who bring sensitivity, humanity, and depth to the narrative, especially the characters of Mary and Mary Magdalene, who become active witnesses to the events. This perspective contributes to a more human and relatable reading of the story.
This Passion play emphasizes the message of love, social justice, and advocacy for the most vulnerable, presenting Jesus as a figure who challenges the powerful and stands with the weak. Thus, it offers a contemporary and universal interpretation, open to both believers and non-believers, inviting reflection on the world today.
This Passion Play is the only one performed in the Diocese of Terrassa and has become a key cultural event in the Vallès region. This year, 2026, it will be staged on March 21, 22, 28, and 29 at the Teatre Auditori in Llinars. Tickets can be purchased on the theater's website (https://www.teatreauditorillinars.cat/).
The Till-Tall Theatre Group
Till-Tall was founded in 1987 at an informal meeting, born from the artistic aspirations of about thirty young people from the town who wanted to revitalize the local cultural scene at a time when there was very little activity in this area. The group soon became established and adopted the name Till-Tall Theatre Group.
Although the group's first activity was a humble live nativity scene and a lip-synced variety show, over its nearly forty-year history it has developed, learned, grown, evolved, and discovered its full potential. Its actors and actresses have performed light comedies, street performances, Tennessee Williams plays, Shakespearean comedies, classics like Don Juan Tenorio, and a Catalan zarzuela such as Cançó d'amor i de guerra...
In recent years, Till-Tall has focused on staging its own texts or adapting existing texts into plays, but what this theater group is most proud of is staging the only Passion Play performed in the Vallès region: Veniu a mi (Come to Me). The Passion Play of Llinars del Vallès has been performed every Easter since 2000. Till-Tall and the Passion Play of Llinars are active members of the Catalan Federation of Passion Plays and Europassion (European Federation of Passion Plays).
The Till-Tall group is made up of highly creative people with a passion for a wide range of topics. Lately, we've been touring with the play És bo xerrar de ment (It's Good to Talk About Mind), which focuses on mental health. It has already won several awards and has performances scheduled throughout Catalonia. Till-Tall is also driven by a desire to bring theater to people who don't usually attend performances, and since 2023, every July, they've organized a program of bringing micro-theater pieces to bars in the town free of charge. The company's latest production is Memòries de la guerra (Memories of War), a play based on the real-life experiences of a Llinars resident who lived through two years of the Spanish Civil War. The play will be performed again during the 2026-2027 season at the Teatre Auditori in Llinars and in other towns in the Vallès region.
Till-Tall is brimming with ideas and enthusiasm and has many future projects.
