Popular chestnut tree in Sant Julià de Vilatorta

Sant Julià de Vilatorta celebrates a new edition of the Castañada, a popular gathering that will once again bring together residents and visitors in the Plaça de Catalunya to enjoy one of the most characteristic traditions of autumn.

The celebration will begin at 8 pm with the lighting of the coals, which will be ready for anyone who wants to cook their own meat. Tables and chairs will be provided, transforming the square into a large open-air meeting point where people can dine, socialize, and enjoy the festive atmosphere of the Castañada night.

This first part of the evening invites participants to bring their own dinner and prepare it directly over the embers, maintaining the simple and participatory spirit of traditional celebrations. It's a way to gather around the fire and recapture those autumn get-togethers where food and conversation take center stage.

From 10 pm onwards, the most traditional flavors of the day will arrive. The Town Hall will offer roasted chestnuts and sweet wine, two essential elements of this festival and a perfect way to end dinner while the celebration continues in the square.

The Castañada of Sant Julià de Vilatorta thus proposes a night without great artifice, focused on sharing a table, warming oneself around the embers and keeping alive a tradition closely linked to All Saints.
