On the banks of the Ter River, in a privileged river environment with extensive green areas, you will find the Ter Museum in Manlleu.

Located in the former Can Sanglas textile factory (1841), this museum is an impressive showcase of the industrial heritage of inland Catalonia. With two hydraulic turbines still in operation, the Ter Museum allows visitors to discover how the power of water drove the unique industrialization process that transformed this region.

A visit to the Ter Museum offers a firsthand look at the workings of a traditional textile industry, from harnessing water power to the operation of machinery (carding machines, roving frames, spinning frames, etc.) and the transformation of cotton, as well as the working conditions and daily lives of the workers. The museum also provides an overview of the Ter River as a living ecosystem, showcasing the biodiversity of Mediterranean rivers and the relationship between nature, the land, and human activity.

The museum was originally named the Ter Industrial Museum (MIT), a name that was changed to its current name, the Ter Museum, in 2012. However, the old name can still be found in some publications and documents.

This change did not entail any modification of the museum's lines of work, but rather aimed to reflect more accurately its territorial vocation and the diversity of areas it addresses, which go beyond industrial heritage, despite the relevance that this continues to have.

Another notable change was the transition from a foundation to a municipally owned body of the Manlleu City Council, which occurred in 2014.

From its inception, the museum has integrated the Center for Mediterranean River Studies (CERM) as its environmental department. In September 2016, CERM joined the University of Vic as a research institute, although it remains linked to the museum and continues its research, education, conservation, and environmental awareness activities related to the Ter River.
