Encamp Carnival
The Encamp Carnival is one of the most exuberant and eagerly awaited festivals on the calendar, a celebration brimming with tradition, music, and fun for all ages. For several days, the streets come alive with parades of floats and troupes, shows, concerts, and activities that blend a festive spirit with local cultural elements.
The festivities begin with the hanging of His Majesty King Carnival, the central figure of the Carnival, which marks the beginning of a few days of revelry and celebration.
Among the most outstanding events is the Ball de l'Ossa, a traditional performance recognized by UNESCO. This tradition mocks the harvesters' environment by staging the accidental hunting of a bear.
There are also several parades, costume contests, and activities designed for both children and adults.
Throughout Carnival, music and a festive atmosphere take center stage with performances, dancing, and DJ sets that keep the party going until the early hours. The celebration culminates with the reading of the last will and testament and the burning of King Carnival, bringing to a close several intense days that combine tradition, popular culture, and plenty of revelry.
The Encamp Carnival is, in short, a vibrant and deeply rooted festival that year after year reaffirms its unique character and its ability to be enjoyed by everyone.
