Asparagus Fair in Port de la Selva

The Port de la Selva celebrates a new edition of the Asparagus Fair!

The Asparagus Fair is the only specific fair for forest asparagus that takes place in Catalonia. Its unbeatable setting and the product that is presented make it an unmissable event in Port de la Selva. With activities for adults and children, it is a day designed to enjoy with the family.

On Saturday the fair kicks off with the presentation of the book "200 farmhouses and neighborhoods of Cap de Creus" by Arnald Plujà at 6:00 p.m. Next, you will be able to enjoy a Tapas Route in which different local restaurateurs participate, presenting special tastings with forest asparagus as the main ingredient.

The program of the fair begins with the realization of different activities. As a novelty this year, those attending the fair will be able to learn to identify edible wild plants with a workshop led by Montserrat Enrich from Gastronomia Salvatge. This activity will take place in the Vall de Santa Creu from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and prior registration is required at the tourist office.

Throughout the day, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Calle del Mar and Paseo del Milenario in Port de la Selva will be filled with stalls hosting the gastronomic and commercial fair. You can taste different tastings offered by local restaurateurs as well as special dishes.

The different entities and associations of the town, an emblem of social and cultural life in the municipality and the APPA, the Association of Small Artisan Producers of the Alt Empordà as well as other artisan producers also participate in the fair.

For the little ones, a giant zip line and a climbing wall so that they can also participate in the day.

Music will also be present in this new edition. Attendees will be able to enjoy a parade with traditional music at noon, the Alverd Oliva concert or the Habaneras of the local group La Mar d'Amunt, which will close the day at 6:00 p.m. with the traditional burning of Cap de Creus.
