Walk of the Doctor in Vilada
Vilada offers us this family walk, next to the town, where long ago Dr. Soler's patients recovered from their chest diseases in contact with nature. Today converted into a public space of the town, the Viladans come for a walk and to enjoy beautiful views.
The route is suitable to be done with the whole family, since its difficulty is low. The length of the route is 1.8 kilometers, with a positive drop of 30 meters, the approximate duration of the route is 40 minutes.
We will leave the car park in the town of Vilada, a few meters down the road to the entrance of the promenade, identified by two large vines cut on both sides. Before entering the street that leads to the promenade, you can see the Villa Rosa, one of the places where Dr. Soler, in the 30s of the 20th century, took patients who came from a doctor friend of his in Barcelona with chest conditions caused by industrial airs.
You can do the circuit as we propose or just do a small part. It is an easy and short tour, along a small ridge with a sunnier slope and a shady one, so do not be in a hurry and enjoy the walk, the trees that accompany us and the exceptional views of its comfortable viewpoint.
The doctor conditioned the area with walls, benches and a fountain to make it more friendly. Many different types of cypress trees were also planted that line the path, making it less wild. Today the city council has finished fixing it to open it as a public space for all inhabitants and visitors.
It is a good place to make a first contact with nature and the wild pine, deciduous and shrub forests of the area, but now without hurry and next to the town. What you cannot miss, at the western end, is the beautiful viewpoint that will open our eyes to the relief and the characteristic landscape of this region: San Miguel channels and Baells reservoir. Ahh, and don't miss the Can Felip holm oak.
Back in town, you must know that Dr. Soler lived in Cal Soler.
