The Castellterçol Festival, with the Dance and the Ball of Ciri

Come and experience the tradition and elegance of the Castellterçol Dance and the Ball del Ciri, two unique choreographies that fill the Plaça Vella with life during the Fiesta Mayor, the fourth week of August. These dances, which have been performed for centuries, are a true treasure of the town's intangible cultural heritage, and the Castellterçol Dance has been declared of National Interest since 1985.

The six pairs of dancers perform on Sunday at midday, after mass, and on Monday afternoon. On Sunday, the complete Dance can be seen, while only a fragment of the Baile del Cirio is performed. On Monday, however, both complete choreographies are danced. One of the most magical moments comes when, during the Baile del Ciri, the dancers distribute cologne with the almorratxes, filling the square with a floral fragrance. Then, the dancers throw bottles into the clouds, trying to reach the roof of the town hall, in a symbolic gesture full of history.

The Consell Municipal de la Dansa y el Baile del Ciri ensures that the tradition is kept alive, selecting the twelve dancers at the beginning of summer and teaching them every detail of the choreography and ceremony. The traditional costumes, with pointed dresses, top hats and classic earrings, add a touch of elegance to a dance that combines delicate movements and ceremonial steps.
