National Catalan Pyrenean Horse Competition in La Torre de Capdella

The Torre de Capdella celebrates one more year the National Catalan Pyrenean Horse Competition!

The cattle will begin arriving on Friday afternoon, and the competition itself is on Saturday morning. In this competition , the presence of a hundred horses from the Pyrenees regions is expected.

The Catalan Pyrenean Horse is an equine breed found in various regions of the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees of Catalonia, with a main orientation towards meat production and, secondarily, in activities related to tourism and entertainment.

This breed arose by crossing the ancient Catalan Horse, a light draft breed of medium height that became extinct towards the middle of the 20th century, with other heavy European breeds, such as the Bretons, the Comtois and the Ardenneses. The breed has maintained its characteristics of robustness, adaptation to the terrain and high fertility.
