Espai Patrimonial La Central
The La Central heritage site showcases and highlights the industrial heritage of Pallars Jussà. The electrification of Catalonia dates back to the construction of the hydroelectric power plants in Pallars Jussà during the early 20th century.
In 2016, coinciding with the centenary of the Talarn Hydroelectric Power Plant, the heritage site La Central was inaugurated.
Currently, La Central offers a varied cultural and educational program, designed for audiences of all ages, which allows you to discover a relevant episode in the history of the country through an accessible and enriching cultural experience.
Guided tours
The guided tour of the La Central Heritage Site offers a fascinating journey through the technical aspects of the facilities, their evolution and the history of the La Canadiense project, from its beginnings to the Civil War.
During the visit, you can explore the complex's outdoor spaces, as well as the electrical and mechanical workshop, which houses the permanent exhibition "El Pallars ilumina Cataluña" (Pallars Illuminates Catalonia). The tour culminates with a striking visit to the air-raid shelter.
A unique sensory and historical experience that you can't miss.

Activity - Fulgur Children's Workshop
How did people light their homes before the advent of electricity? What inventions and techniques have allowed us to transform darkness into light?
These are some of the topics we'll explore in the Fulgur children's and family workshop. A playful journey through the history of lighting, through an experiential and participatory activity that invites children and adults to learn how lighting systems have evolved over the centuries.
During the workshop
We will see an introductory video about the lighting techniques and instruments used throughout history.
We will create a timeline to place the main lighting systems in their historical context.
We will move on to action by making, in small groups, a beeswax candle, a clay oil lamp or a magic lantern inspired by old optical toys.
A creative experience that combines science, art and heritage, ideal for enjoying as a family!
