Friesian cow competition in Vallfogona de Balaguer

The livestock sector has historically played a fundamental role in Vallfogona de Balaguer, and remains an essential part of its identity. This April, after more than 30 years, the Friesian cow competition, once a major event for the region, will be revived.

Thus, the event will once again become a meeting point for industry professionals and livestock enthusiasts. Participants prepare thoroughly for months, paying special attention to various aspects of animal welfare and presentation.

This event, held during the 1980s, brought together dozens of ranchers and hundreds of cattle. Now, thanks to the drive of younger generations and the support of the organization and local institutions, it has been decided to revive this event with the aim of highlighting the work of ranchers and revitalizing the sector.

The competition, organized by the Catalan Friesian Breed Federation in collaboration with local authorities and entities, will feature the participation of around forty breeders and will also offer complementary activities for the public.
