The agrarian landscape defines Montgai and Butsénit. The great plains of culture, provide landscape and ecological value, with a unique ornithological fauna, have been sustained by the work in the field.

The cabins are a fundamental landscape element of this agrarian landscape, which serve both as a hiding place for different animal species and as a substrate for numerous plant species typical of these places. They are stone constructions located in the dry lands of the protected natural space, which in their daily use were used to store the tools or to shelter the peasants sporadically.

During the Civil War, the cabins had another function. With the war front nearby, life in the town changes. During the war, many families went to live in the cabins to take refuge, some neighbors spent months there.

In addition, the vestiges that the Civil War left on the territory are preserved, as is the case of the fortified spaces of the Sierras de los Tossals, where the Republican army built trenches and machine-gun nests to dominate the Cap de Pont de Balaguer.
