Rombic Festival
Rómbic is Barcelona's puppet theater festival for adults, a unique cultural event that aims to take this art form beyond children. Over a weekend, various spaces within the Ateneu Popular 9 Barris host performances that blend tradition and innovation, with stories that combine humor, social commentary, and visual poetry.
The festival includes a wide variety of offerings, such as Entresòl 1a, a visual theater piece that reflects on the precariousness of housing, and Proyecto Frankenstein, a contemporary reinterpretation of the classic. There are also shows that revive tradition, such as Tragedias de amor y cuernos (Tragedies of Love and Cuckoldry), and more visual and musical performances like Manékine, which combines puppetry and live music.
With a community-based organization and a clear commitment to contemporary creation, Rómbic has established itself as an essential event to discover the current potential of puppet theatre.
