The Sant Martí Festival returns to La Figuera!

This year, the celebration emphasizes historical memory and the value of the municipality's human and cultural heritage, with activities that encourage reflection, music, and community.

Among the highlights was the ceremony honoring Mr. Joan Abelló Mestre, an act of recognition and remembrance that included the placement of a Stolpersteine (stumbling stone) in front of the house where he was born and lived. This gesture is part of a European project that aims to keep alive the memory of the victims of Nazism, while also recalling the collective commitment to dignity and justice. The commemoration symbolizes the importance of not forgetting the past and transmitting values of respect and solidarity to future generations.

Music also plays a key role in the festivities with a concert at Terpe by The Keystone Cops, who will deliver a high-energy and rhythmic performance. This musical offering adds a playful and festive touch to a weekend that combines excitement and camaraderie.

The events conclude with the traditional celebration of Holy Mass in honor of Saint Martin, officiated by the Bishop of Tortosa, a space for reflection and spirituality that reinforces the religious and community meaning of the festival.
