European Balloon Festival in Igualada

The European Balloon Festival is an international concentration of hot air balloons that was held for the first time in 1997 in Igualada.

Since then it has established itself as a competition and a festival of reference at European level.

The festival takes place during the first half of July in Igualada and brings together over four days (from Thursday to Sunday) more than fifty balloons with their teams, from around the world, and more than 25,000 visitors.

The European Balloon Festival is a concentration, a competition, a balloon festival, which brings together the playful aspect of flight, the beauty of this sport and competition.

Throughout the four days of the festival, the visitor can enjoy the spectacle of seeing more than 50 balloons fly, participate in the different programmed activities or take off in a balloon, while the participating teams perform different exhibitions and of competition.

The flights are made first thing in the morning and late in the afternoon, since it is when the weather conditions are better to fly in a balloon.
