Canamellas of Sant Joan de Vilatorrada
The Retruque de Sant Joan de Vilatorrada is a cultural and festive initiative that celebrates and highlights the traditions and popular culture of the town. For three days, the town is filled with activity thanks to a varied program designed for all ages: from the popular Rua del Retruc, which fills the streets with music and a festive atmosphere, to a communal dinner that becomes a meeting point for locals, as well as musical and recreational activities that enliven the cultural life of the town.
One of the highlights is the celebration of the traditional caramelles, with the active participation of local organizations, which keep alive a deeply rooted cultural expression. The program culminates with the Aplec de Joncadella, an emblematic festival linked to the territory and collective identity, combining tradition, spirituality, and community.
The initiative not only contributes to preserving and disseminating intangible heritage, but also promotes citizen participation, strengthens community ties, and fosters social cohesion. The Retruc has thus become a key event in the festive calendar of San Juan de Vilatorrada, successfully combining tradition and contemporary elements in an open and inclusive atmosphere.
