Living Via Crucis of L'Escala

The living Via Crucis that takes place in L'Escala, wants to rediscover and reveal the importance that cultural and religious manifestations have had in all peoples and throughout all times. The streets and places of our town are the places where Jesus' painful path to Calvary is relived. Our street that bears the name "Calvari" takes us to the Mar d'en Manassa mountain.

The Calvary Mountain, top of the entire Via Crucis in the middle of a background of sea and stars. Jesus alone between heaven and earth. Since 2009, the El Rosetó Culture Association has organized this unique event that has become an attraction for visitors and locals. More than 150 participants make up this show.

The people of L'Escala have made every effort to ensure that all these dramatic and cultural manifestations, wrapped in an air of silence, can reach the entire world.

The effort of an entire town, with the specific objective of providing the elements that each spectator wants to find in the theatrical performances of Holy Week. The Via Crucis de l'Escala, with all the scenes that are represented throughout the journey, the Ramo, The Samaritan, The Sanhedrin, The Sentence, The Falls, The Veronica, The Cirineus and the Crucifixion, aims to transmit emotion to the contemplate and live the drama of the Passion of Jesus Christ.
