L'Alternativa - Barcelona Independent Film Festival
L'Alternativa - Barcelona Independent Film Festival celebrates its 33rd edition from November 12 to 22, 2026. This festival is a unique platform that offers citizens and professionals the opportunity to discover and enjoy screenings and activities that champion the creative independence of the author, diversity, innovation, and freedom.
This year, the festival will dedicate a retrospective to Alice Diop and a cycle at the Cinémathèque idéale des banlieues du monde. Directors Meritxell Colell, Pedro Pinho and Sergio Oksman will star in the three Satellites of this year's edition. The opening film will be The Loneliest Man in Town, by Tizza Covi and Rainer Frimmel, while the closing film will be Merci d'être Venu, by Alain Cavalier.
In addition, the Special Sessions will feature new films by directors such as Jean-Gabriel Périot, Nikolaus Geyrhalter, Isaki Lacuesta and Angela Schanelec, among others.
