"Dones valentes" in the Romanesque Church of La Palma d'Ebre
La Palma d'Ebre will host the show "Dones valentes" (Brave Women), a proposal that invites the public to discover the life, trajectory and struggles of several women who have left a deep mark on society.
The performance will review the stories of figures such as Dolors Aleu, the first woman to graduate in medicine in the Spanish State; the writer Mercè Rodoreda, one of the most outstanding voices in Catalan literature; the aviator Maria Pepa Colomer, a pioneer of aviation, and the photojournalist Joana Biarnés, who made her way in a professional field dominated by men.
Through their experiences, the public will learn about the difficulties they had to overcome to pursue their vocations and defend their place in society. Their lives are examples of perseverance, talent, and courage, but they also reveal the obstacles and inequalities that have affected women throughout history.
The show will not focus solely on well-known figures. It will also pay tribute to the many anonymous women who sustained families, communities, and trades without receiving the recognition they deserved. Everyday stories of resilience and effort that form part of our collective memory.
The proposal will broaden the perspective to include other women from around the world, some well-known and others less visible, who have excelled in their professional fields or broken barriers in their personal lives.
The activity will take place in the Romanesque church of La Palma de Ebro, a heritage site that will host an evening of culture, memory and reflection.
An opportunity to rediscover female role models, recognize shared struggles, and remember that many social transformations have been made possible thanks to courageous women.
