Romanesque Route of La Baronia de Rialb

A route will be undertaken to discover the Romanesque architecture of La Baronia de Rialb, visiting different points of historical and architectural interest in the area.

The Romanesque Route through the Barony of Rialb and Ponts is a cultural and heritage initiative designed to discover and showcase some of the most emblematic Romanesque sites in the area. The activity offers an enriching experience that combines history, architecture, and landscape, bringing participants closer to the medieval legacy of the region.

The event will take place on Saturday, April 4, 2026, and will begin at the Monastery of Santa Maria de Gualter, a place steeped in history that will serve as the meeting point. There, a brief introduction will be given to contextualize the Romanesque style in the Barony of Rialb and Ponts, as well as a general explanation of the activity.

A guided tour of the monastery will then begin, where participants will learn firsthand about its architectural features, most prominent elements, and historical significance. The tour will provide a deeper understanding of the role these spaces have played throughout history.

The tour will then continue to the canons' church of Sant Pere de Ponts, another outstanding example of Catalan Romanesque architecture. There, visitors will explore the interior of the church and its surroundings, appreciating the unique structure and its integration into the landscape.

The transfers will be made with the participants' vehicles and the route will be guided by J. Bibila from the Baronia de Rialb Tourist Office.
