Relive the legend of Pratdip Llegendari for another year!

Pratdip Llegendari is a family festival that aims to transport attendees on a journey through time via activities, spaces, scenes and magical corners.

Throughout the festival , free workshops will be held for the youngest members of the family, featuring traditional games, storytelling, and a shouting contest. There will also be activities to surprise visitors throughout the festival, such as parades and legendary dances.

During the festival, the gastronomic space will offer visitors a dining area where they can relax.

The legend

One of the most fascinating fantastic legends of Catalonia is the one told by the inhabitants of Pratdip. It is the legend of the dips. The dips are black, demonic wolf-dogs that chose the mountains of the Serra de Tramuntana to inhabit. From time to time, and only at night, they would appear, their dark silhouettes looming on the horizon, their eyes flashing defiantly in the darkness, or terrifying men in the village itself. But what worried the people of Pratdip most was the misfortune of finding their flocks still bearing the marks of the fangs with which the dips had sucked their blood.

The relationship between the dips and the town is inseparable, and the dips still shape the identity of Pratdip. Although etymological sources point to several origins, the dips have been associated with the name of Pratdip since its inception, identifying it as the meadow of the dips. The dips first appeared in the altarpiece of Santa Marina in 1602; they reappeared in 1730 in another altarpiece, where they took on a fiercer and more defiant appearance, and later, they came to grace the town's coat of arms.

In his work Natural Histories, Joan Perucho draws inspiration from the dips to create a vampiric and mutant character set in modern times. In this way, the author internationalizes the figure of the dip, more specifically Onofre de Dip, who lived in Pratdip Castle, through one of the few vampiric characters in Catalan folklore. Today, the dip, with a more friendly image, can be found in the monument to the dip at one of the entrances to the town, and can be seen in different corners of the village along a tourist route.
