Llançà Medieval Fair
Llançà will take a trip back in time with a new edition of "Llançà Medieval, a Journey Through Time," an event that will transform the town's old quarter into an authentic medieval setting filled with entertainment, crafts, and shows for all ages. This initiative, which continues to grow in popularity on the town's cultural calendar, will fill the main square and surrounding streets with activities inspired by the Middle Ages, turning the historic center into a large historical reenactment space.
Throughout the day, visitors can stroll among medieval encampments, demonstrations of traditional crafts, hands-on workshops, and stalls selling local goods and artisanal products. The program includes activities designed for all ages, with dedicated spaces for young children and interactive exhibits to discover what life was like in medieval times. Highlights include writing and painting demonstrations, coin spinning tops, kite shooting, traditional games, shield-making workshops, as well as medieval dance performances and stick dances.
The traveling shows will be one of the day's main attractions. Medieval music will fill the town's streets, accompanying parades and period characters, while theatrical performances like "The Tax Collector" and "Burbujo, the Bubble Wizard" will add humor and entertainment to the festivities. There will also be historical reenactments of medieval combat and activities related to the world of knights, such as demonstrations of how they dressed before going into battle.
The festival will also feature theatrical guided tours and the participation of various cultural groups and organizations that will help recreate the medieval atmosphere in different parts of the town. In addition, a lecture dedicated to the corsair Pere de Rodes is scheduled for the day before the fair, further enhancing the educational aspect of the event.
With this new edition, Llançà reaffirms its commitment to showcasing its heritage and old town through a cultural and family-friendly event that combines history, entertainment, and citizen participation.
