Experience the eclipse in Alcanar!

Alcanar is preparing to experience a unique day under the summer sky for the solar eclipse of August 12, 2026. The municipality has designed a special program that combines astronomy, culture, wellness, gastronomy and family activities, with events spread across various locations and designed to enjoy the phenomenon in a safe, accessible and memorable way.

The highlight will come at 7 pm, when Plaça de la Lluna, located in the bullring, will be transformed into a large observation area. The experience will be accompanied by music and food, in a festive atmosphere perfect for sharing with family and friends. Observation goggles will be limited, so it's advisable to arrive early and always follow the safety instructions.

The day will also include activities in other locations in Alcanar. At the Mirador del Sol viewpoint on Moleta del Remei, a theatrical tour will be offered with limited spaces and prior reservation required. At Espai Serena in La Fanecada, an inclusive and tranquil area will be set up, specially designed for people with specific sensitivities, low stimulation, or visual impairments, equipped with LightSound devices. At Casa O'Connor, the public can watch an explanatory video about the eclipse and participate in a family treasure hunt in the morning and afternoon.

But the celebration will begin much earlier. In the weeks leading up to it, Alcanar will offer informative talks, family planetarium shows, storytelling sessions, workshops, yoga, Qi Gong, and guided tours of the Iberian settlement of Moleta del Remei. A varied program that will allow visitors to approach the phenomenon through science, history, movement, and creativity.

The eclipse will be the perfect excuse to discover Alcanar, its heritage, and its landscapes, while the sky offers one of nature's most fascinating spectacles.
