Exhibition "A Journey Through Time in the Royal Shipyards of Barcelona"
Organized by: Museu Marítim de Barcelona
In 2026, Barcelona was named World Capital of Architecture. As part of this event, we present this exhibition to evoke the origin and history of one of the city's most emblematic buildings. The Royal Shipyards (Reales Atarazanas ), internationally recognized for their monumental scale and excellent state of preservation, were declared a national historical-artistic monument in 1976.
Its origins date back to the 13th century, during the reign of Peter III of Aragon. Over the following centuries, it was expanded and modified until it reached the appearance we know today. The exhibition explores the different historical periods and uses of this complex, considered the largest and most complete medieval shipyards preserved in the world, and a unique example of Gothic civil architecture.
