Historic Raluy Circus in Granollers: TIERRA arrives in Vallès Oriental
Organized by: Circ Raluy
From 2 to 11 October, Historic Raluy Circus will set up at the Granollers Fairgrounds with TERRA, a production directed by Rosa Raluy that combines international acrobatics, humour, heritage and the atmosphere of the traditional circus.
This October, Granollers is adding a unique event to its cultural calendar. From 2 to 11 October, Historic Raluy Circus will pitch its big top at the Granollers Fairgrounds to present its current show, TERRA.
For ten days, the capital of Vallès Oriental will welcome a company that combines the excitement of live performance with a circus heritage that is an inseparable part of its identity.
The experience begins even before entering the big top. The distinctive historic carriages of Historic Raluy Circus transform the space in which the company sets up and evoke a vision of circus connected to travel, life on the road and the passing down of a craft through several generations.
TERRA: a fresh take on the traditional circus
The production coming to Granollers is entitled TERRA and is directed by Rosa Raluy.
The show draws inspiration from the elements of nature to create a visual universe in which acrobatics, music, movement, lighting and costumes come together.
The ring hosts a succession of highly demanding disciplines performed by international artists: trapeze, aerial straps, balancing acts, handstands, hula hoops, hand-to-hand acrobatics, acrobatic trampoline and Korean teeterboard, among other specialities.
One of TERRA's highlights comes courtesy of the Orlovs Duo, who perform a spectacular Korean teeterboard act featuring a triple somersault.
The performance alternates these moments of risk and precision with the humour of Sandro Roque and the guidance of Aleix Gómez, Historic Raluy Circus's master of ceremonies, who accompanies the audience throughout the show.
The result is a production designed for audiences of all ages, combining circus technique with a carefully crafted, contemporary staging.
A family story that continues under the big top
Behind Historic Raluy Circus lies the story of several generations connected to the world of circus.
One of the key figures in this story is Luis Raluy Iglesias, a circus artist and the father of Carlos and Luis Raluy Tomás.
Over the years, the Raluy name has become closely associated with circus in Catalonia, through a history shaped by travel, performances and life under the big top.
Today, Rosa Raluy serves as the artistic director of Historic Raluy Circus and continues to develop this universe through her own creative vision, combining the preservation of its heritage with the creation of new shows.
The Raluy sisters, Kimberley and Jillian Raluy, belong to a new generation of the Raluy Family and represent the present and future of this circus tradition.
This coexistence of different generations is one of the project's defining features: the circus is not only the show that audiences see during the performance, but also a way of life that continues after the ring lights go out.
