Santa Eugenia de Berga, delimits the municipalities of Vic, Malla, Taradell, Vilalleons ( San Julián de Vilatorta ) and Calldetenes and is part of the bishopric of Vic.

The name of Berga has no link with the capital of Berguedà. It has Celtic origins (it means elevation of the land). For a short period (1937/1939) and, by decision of the town council, the town was renamed Berga del Castell. Since 915, some documents express the name Berga in an ancient town or large rural farm.

The place names or names of Santa Eugenia and Berga were united in the 11th century, although at some times they appeared separated.
