Pla d'Urgell
Pla d'Urgell is a region located in the heart of the Lleida plain, known for its agricultural wealth, its flat landscapes and its natural spaces surrounded by cultivated fields. Despite being one of the smallest regions in Catalonia, Pla d'Urgell offers a wide variety of activities and an identity strongly rooted in the rural world.
The capital of the region, Mollerussa, is a dynamic and active centre. With a strong agricultural character, Mollerussa is known for hosting the Feria de San José, one of the most important agricultural fairs in Catalonia, which attracts numerous visitors from the sector every year. In addition, the city has cultural attractions such as the Museo de Trajes de Papel, a unique space that exhibits unique creations made entirely of paper, making it a cultural reference point for the region.
One of the main natural points of interest in Pla d'Urgell is the Estany d'Ivars and Vila-sana, a large lake that was restored at the beginning of the 21st century after being drained for decades. This natural space is a gem for nature and bird lovers, as it has become a stopping point for many species of migratory birds. The pond is perfect for walks or bike rides, and has observatories to enjoy the local flora and fauna.
The Pla d'Urgell region is characterised by its intensive agriculture, thanks to the Urgell Canal, which irrigates fields of cereals, fruit trees and vegetables. This infrastructure, key to the region's economy, has transformed the plain into one of the most fertile agricultural areas in Catalonia.
The cultural heritage of Pla d'Urgell also includes buildings such as the Church of Sant Miquel in Bellvís, an outstanding example of religious architecture in the region, and numerous small villages with the charm of rural life.
The gastronomy of Pla d'Urgell is based on produce from the garden and livestock. Sausages, snails and dishes made with fresh local produce are typical of the area, often accompanied by wines from the DO Costers del Segre.
Come and stay here, discover the tranquillity of its landscapes and enjoy the nature and gastronomy of Pla d'Urgell, a region where agriculture and rural life are the main attractions.
