Sant Magí, Tarragona's Summer Festival

From 12/08/2023 to 19/08/2023
Tarragona

Sant Magí is the Festival of the patron saint of the city of Tarragona!

In Sant Magí popular elements such as Magí de les Timbales, giants, giant Negritos, dwarves, cane players, etc., come together to accompany the water of Sant Magí, an essential element of the festival. The human towers are also part of this celebration, along with a wide range of festive and cultural events.

Sant Magí is the Tarragona water festival. On August 17, the Portants del Agua begin the descent towards Tarragona. From Sant Magí Lluny, in the Pontils district, passing through Santa Perpètua de Gaià and entering Alt Camp through Querol, the Armentera Bridge, Aiguamúrcia, Vila-rodona and Bràfim. The next day, the path resumes towards Nulles to enter Tarragonès via Catllar and Pallaresos.

Finally, the entire Maginian corrua will make its spectacular entrance into the city until it reaches the Portal del Carro, a space from where the water will be distributed. This ritual, which has been repeated year after year since 1843, has had different configurations depending on the time.
