Home dels Nassos Festival in Torroella de Montgrí

The Home dels Nassos Festival is one of the most unique and eagerly awaited celebrations on the festive calendar of Torroella de Montgrí.

Every December 31st, the town bids farewell to the year with this deeply rooted tradition, featuring a mythical character who, according to popular saying, "has as many noses as there are days left in the year." Naturally, he can only be seen on the very last day, and that's why his appearance always creates great anticipation among young and old alike.

The day begins at 11:30 a.m. in the courtyard of Can Quintana, where the Home dels Nassos (Big Nose Man) makes his official appearance amidst a festive and family-friendly atmosphere. To kick off the celebration, the Doctor Fly company presents the Fun Party Doctor Fly show, a performance designed for all ages that combines music, humor, and audience participation, creating a joyful and stimulating atmosphere.

Once the show is over, one of the most anticipated moments for children arrives: the children's parade. Accompanied by the rhythmic energy of Retumbatuka, the festive procession winds its way through the city center streets, leading the Home dels Nassos (Man of Big Nose) to the Chapel of Sant Antoni. The sounds of the drums, the participation of families, and the presence of the character make this procession a vibrant and colorful experience.

The festivities continue in the afternoon with a sporting tradition that has become a classic in the town: the Cursa dels Nassos (Nose Race). The race starts at 6:00 PM from Plaça Quintana i Combis, and is organized by the Club Excursionista Montgrí (Montgrí Hiking Club). This popular race brings together runners of all ages and abilities, making it a healthy and fun way to end the year.
