Passió de La Bisbal d'Empordà
Each Passion Play is a product of its time and grows with the community that represents it. Ours maintains the beloved music that has united generations, but renews the text so that it remains vibrant and relevant. We wanted a Passion Play without external narrators, based on the 18th-century text but told from within: it is the characters themselves —Jesus, Mary, Peter, Judas, the people— who recount what they experience and feel.
This brings the viewer closer to their emotions, contradictions, and wounds, and turns each scene into a human voice that dialogues with the others.
It is not a doctrinal lesson, but a play that speaks of power, fear, betrayal, tenderness, and rebirth.
We maintain music as a bridge to tradition and renew the text as a bridge to the present.
Thus is born a respectful, vibrant and profoundly human Passion, which we invite you to experience from within.
The original music of the Passion of La Bisbal with a text adapted to our times.
