El Pont de Bar

El Pont de Bar is a municipality located northeast of the Alt Urgell and within the subregion of Baridà. For his term runs the river Segre and various streams like those of Sant Joan, that of Moli and the Barguja. The town of Pont de Bar includes several population centers such as Aristot, Bar, Toloriu, Castellnou of Carcolze, Arenys Els, Els Banys de San Vincente, Ardaix and named the nucleus, Pont de Bar.

Pont de Bar is a relatively young town, as it was created in 1970, when they joined some of the kernels listed above and, then, he had been given neither the current name.

At the core of Aristot find a Romanesque church dedicated to Sant Andreu. At the core of Castellnou of Carcolze find another, in this case devoted to Sant Gervasi, it is Gothic and highlights the low doorway of the tower. Inside the church are remains of the old castle wall of the population. In Toloriu there is a church dedicated to Sant Jaume, but nothing remains of the old castle.

The village of Pont de Bar suffered floods in 1982 that led to the collapse the element that gave the village its name part: the bridge. This was a stone bridge built by Sant Ermengol in the eleventh century. The road infrastructure improvements and new communications have made the bridge and the road is not used step and do not get as much traffic as before.

At the Pont de Bar is a museum dedicated to wine that shows different aspects with the vineyard and mountain wine production.
