La Secuita
Located in the northern part of Tarragonés, the old core of the Secuita highlights the parish church of Santa Maria, as well as the presence of large mansions, witnessing a splendid past. In the outskirts we find the remains of the Gran Casal de La Tallada, former residence of the monks of the monastery of Santes Creus.
The term stands out for its gently undulating orography, on horseback from the basins of Francolí and Gaià. Although there are indications of various Roman settlements, its history begins in the second half of the s. XII, once reconquered the Field of Tarragona.
Of the nucleus of the Argilaga it emphasizes the church of Sant Roc, the House of the Frares, and the modernist house of the Domingo square. To mark an authentic work of art of modernism: the temple of Sagrat Cor de Vistabella, designed by the architect Josep Maria Jujol, declared a cultural asset of national interest.
The term and its nuclei have not undergone excessive changes. In this sense we only highlight the Camp de Tarragona Station, the most important high-speed communications node in our counties.
The vineyard is the traditional agrarian production still dominant.
