Home dels Nassos in Tarragona

The "Home dels Nassos" runs through the main streets and squares of Tarragona on the last day of the year!

The Home dels Nassos is a character who "has as many noses as there are days in the year", and is very popular and loved among boys and girls. It is a tradition collected in different Catalan towns.

As the year only has one day on December 31, the man with the noses could really be anyone, but the children imagined and imagine that he has three hundred and sixty-five noses.

In Tarragona it was created in 1968, thanks to the impulse of Joan Virgili Basora, and became the first of its kind to adopt the big-headed morphology, which later became popular in other parts of Catalonia. The construction of the head is by the Valencian artist Vicenç Tortosa Biosca, and the organization of the event is the responsibility of the Municipal Council of the Cabalgata de Reyes and Home dels Nassos.

The Home dels Nassos runs through the main streets and squares of the city. One of the most anticipated moments is when he appears on the balcony of the town hall, in Plaça de la Font, and greets all those present.

Since 2016 he has a dedicated song, with music and lyrics by Montse Blay y López and arrangements by Joan Moliner. The boys and girls sing to him when he arrives at the Plaza de la Font.
